Job Title: Workday Architect (Techno-Functional)

About the Opportunity
ZipStaff is seeking an experienced Techno-Functional Workday Architect to serve as the bridge between HR business stakeholders and technical delivery teams for a leading private banking and financial services organization.
In this role, you will own end-to-end solution design across Workday HCM and Integrations, combining deep functional expertise with hands-on technical capability to deliver scalable, compliant, and efficient enterprise solutions.
What You’ll Do:
Functional Configuration:
- Lead solution design across Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Recruiting, Talent, and Payroll modules.
- Partner with HR teams to translate business requirements into scalable Workday configurations.
- Conduct impact assessments for releases, enhancements, and regulatory changes.
- Own governance frameworks for access, role rationalization, and audit readiness.
- Follow SDLC framework for enhancements and projects.
Integration Architecture & Delivery:
- Design, develop, and support inbound/outbound integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Web Services (REST/SOAP APIs), BIRT reporting, and XML/XSLT transformations.
- Lead the full integration lifecycle: requirements → mapping → build → test → deploy → post-production support.
- Troubleshoot integration failures and optimize performance.
- Oversee vendor integrations (payroll providers, benefits vendors, ServiceNow, background check vendors, etc.).
- Implement secure authentication protocols (SFTP, OAuth, certificates, API security).
Program & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead cross-functional workshops and discovery sessions.
- Translate BRDs into user stories and technical design documentation.
- Provide executive-level updates on roadmap, risk, and integration stability.
- Mentor junior analysts, integration developers, and functional configurators.
- Drive release management strategy and regression testing coordination.
- Maintain detailed documentation related to project work, HR systems frameworks, and process guides.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of hands-on Workday experience with strong depth in HCM configuration and/or security.
- 5+ years of Workday integration experience (Studio, EIB, APIs strongly preferred).
- Experience supporting or leading full lifecycle Workday implementations or major tenant refreshes.
- Experience operating in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Strong understanding of data governance and security best practices.
- Proven ability to lead solution design, workshops, and cross-functional delivery.
- Ability to work on-site in Jersey City, NJ.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep experience across multiple Workday HCM modules (Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Recruiting, Talent, Payroll).
- Strong hands-on expertise with Workday Studio and complex integration patterns.
- Prior experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience mentoring junior Workday resources.
