Location: Remote (Woonsocket, RI area preferred)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)
About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to drive delivery across mobile platform teams for a global technology services firm.
You will support the Design System team (building shared components for iOS, Android, and Web) and the Mobile Foundation team (owning the core layer underneath iOS and Android apps). The role focuses on keeping both teams aligned with dependent app teams, removing blockers, and ensuring releases ship predictably.
What You’ll Do:
- Own planning, roadmap, and delivery tracking for both teams, including cross-team dependencies and risks.
- Coordinate component releases, versioning, and adoption across iOS, Android, and Web consumers.
- Partner with engineering leads on foundation work such as networking, auth, observability, and shared libraries.
- Run the release process for mobile apps and shared packages, including release calendars, go/no-go decisions, hotfixes, and rollbacks.
- Work with CI/CD owners to improve build times, pipeline reliability, and test automation.
- Track and communicate migration efforts, SDK upgrades, Xcode and Android toolchain updates, and deprecations.
- Give leadership clear status, metrics, and early warning on risks.
- Build working relationships with design, product, QA, and security teams.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years as a Technical Program Manager or in a similar role supporting mobile or platform engineering.
- Solid understanding of how mobile apps work end-to-end, including app architecture, build and signing, app store release, feature flags, and crash and performance monitoring.
- Hands-on familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Harness) and release workflows.
- Working knowledge of GCP, GKE, networking, logging and monitoring, and how backend services affect mobile.
- Experience with design systems or shared component libraries across multiple platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort driving decisions without direct authority.
- Fluency with Jira, Confluence, and dashboards for tracking delivery.
- Ability to work remotely.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Flutter or cross-platform frameworks.
- Familiarity with Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability tooling.
- Background in a regulated industry such as healthcare.
- Prior hands-on engineering experience in mobile or web.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps, Native Android, Native iOS, or related architecture and design skills.
Benefits:
- Health Insurance.
- Dental Insurance.
- Vision Insurance.
- 401(k) + 401(k) matching.
- Paid time off.
- Referral Program.
