About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and support ETL and data-processing applications for a leading healthcare analytics and payment-integrity organization.
You will work on data extraction, validation, and large-scale processing used for healthcare data management, statistical reporting, and program validation. This role requires strong Microsoft SQL Server depth plus hands-on experience in the Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem (Spark, Hive, Impala, and related tools).
What You'll Do:
- Design and develop high-quality, maintainable software modules for the product suite.
- Create and maintain ETL scripts, tools, queries, and applications for healthcare data management, data validation, statistical report generation, and program validation.
- Conduct unit and integration testing using appropriate methodology.
- Analyze requirements and specifications and create detailed designs for implementation.
- Analyze and resolve software issues originating from internal or external customers.
- Review proposed engineering approaches for adherence to best practices.
- Process large volumes of structured and unstructured data using Spark and related big-data tools.
- Support end-to-end application processes across data movement and transformation layers.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Microsoft SQL Server / relational database experience developing data-extraction applications.
- Experience resolving performance issues on high-data-volume SQL procedures and a strong understanding of index types and usage.
- 3+ years developing applications using Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Hive, and Python.
- 2+ years running, using, and troubleshooting the Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem (Hadoop FS, Hive, Impala, Spark, Kafka, Hue, Oozie, YARN, and Sqoop).
- Strong working knowledge of ETL, database technologies, big data, and data processing.
- Experience with data movement and transformation technologies.
- Understanding of end-to-end application process flow.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare claims data knowledge (highly preferred).
- Experience processing large amounts of structured and unstructured data with Spark.
- Background in healthcare analytics, payment integrity, or similar regulated data environments.
