About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking a Senior SDET for a workflow-driven microservices platform supporting enterprise workforce management at a major passenger-rail and transportation organization.
You will own UI, API, and Kafka test strategy, put suites in CI/CD, and mentor engineers. This is a senior automation lead seat—not manual QA.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain UI and API automation (Playwright, Selenium, REST Assured, Karate, Java, TypeScript).
- Validate distributed microservices, state-heavy workflows, REST APIs (functional, performance, security, authn/authz), and Kafka.
- Run SQL checks for referential integrity and state transitions.
- Build resiliency tests: retries, failure handling, idempotency.
- Embed automation in Jenkins, GitHub, or Bitbucket pipelines.
- Use CloudWatch, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or ELK under load.
- Set quality gates with developers, POs, and architects.
- Mentor engineers; cover modern plus mainframe/batch integrations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or 7+ years equivalent.
- 5+ years manual and automated testing of complex enterprise systems.
- Java and TypeScript for automation.
- Strong UI, API, and microservices testing.
- Strong SQL (relational and NoSQL validation).
- Agile / DevOps delivery.
- Able to travel for quarterly PI planning (client covers travel, lodging, and select meals).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Transportation, logistics, rail, or financial platforms.
- Kafka / event-driven testing.
- JMeter; AWS.
- Mainframe / 3270 / batch-to-modern integration testing.
