Job Title: Senior Java Engineer (Workflow, Access Control & UI)

Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)

About the Opportunity

ZipStaff is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for the Investments & Capital Markets forecasting platform at a major financial services organization in McLean.

You will tighten access control, job queuing, and workflow orchestration, and modernize the UI. Java/Spring on the back end and React on the front end are both in play.

What You’ll Do:

Enhance access control and authorization.
Extend job queuing and scheduling (concurrent runs, priority, resource allocation).
Streamline end-to-end workflows; refactor orchestration and inter-component coordination.
Analyze run pipelines, produce performance stats, and optimize long-running jobs.
Modernize UI structure, hierarchy, usability, and layout.
Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications:

5+ years hands-on software development (Java required).
Java Spring, Git, Unix, and Jenkins.
JavaScript frameworks, React.js required.
Experience implementing access control / authorization.
Experience with job scheduling or queuing.
Experience designing and building modern web UIs.
Ability to work on-site in McLean, VA.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

Python.
1–2 years Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
Optimizing long-running or distributed compute pipelines.
Financial forecasting, risk, or capital-markets platforms.
