About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for release engineering and Azure PaaS delivery at a major grocery and retail organization.
You will own multi-team release trains, automate Azure App Service / Function App paths, and lead the Azure DevOps → GitHub Actions migration with reusable templates. This is a senior build-and-automate seat—not a console operator. Night releases run 2–3 nights per week.
What You’ll Do:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute releases that span multiple teams and shared release trains.
- Build and improve automated deployment paths for Azure PaaS (App Service, Function Apps), including networking, identity, and secrets.
- Lead pipeline and repo migration from Azure DevOps to GitHub Actions; create repeatable templates.
- Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD for secure, repeatable delivery.
- Write PowerShell, Python, and Bash to remove manual steps
- Create self-service templates for repos, pipelines, and containers.
- Enable agile teams to run their own delivery—set them up, unblock them, hand capability back.
- Troubleshoot builds and deployments; support night releases 2–3 nights per week.
- Contribute documentation and guardrails for security and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years DevOps, release engineering, or cloud engineering with software-engineering fundamentals.
- Azure PaaS: Function Apps, App Service, networking, Key Vault.
- Deep GitHub Actions plus Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Release engineering across teams with shared dependencies.
- Production deployments for infrastructure, .NET, and Maven.
- Scripting: PowerShell, Python, Bash.
- Able to build, run, and debug apps in C#/.NET, Java, Node.js, or TypeScript.
- Willing to support night releases 2–3 nights per week.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Kubernetes and GitOps (Argo CD); Canary / Blue-Green.
- GCP.
- Terraform / YAML IaC.
- SAFe.
- Kafka, GraphQL, Temporal, LaunchDarkly, SonarQube, Backstage, or mobile-app release.
