About the Opportunity
ZipStaff is seeking a senior Data Engineer with deep Oracle PL/SQL expertise to join a highly effective data engineering squad supporting Asset Management Technology at a leading financial services organization.
You will develop high-quality, scalable data solutions for critical investment management platforms that support managed accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs. The multi-terabyte data platform serves investment users and customers making daily decisions involving billions of dollars in market investments.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable data engineering solutions within the Asset Management Technology environment.
- Build and optimize complex Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and SQL scripts.
- Perform database performance tuning and ensure efficient data processing at scale.
- Develop and support ETL processes (Informatica) and data warehouse solutions (including Snowflake).
- Apply strong data modeling skills across Transactional, Data Mart, and Data Warehouse designs using quantitative and multi-dimensional analysis.
- Independently analyze technical challenges, assess impact, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Identify data gaps, issues, and patterns; design and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate within an Agile squad and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering efficiency.
- Support DevOps and CI/CD practices (Maven, Jenkins, Git, Docker) for high-quality software delivery.
- Partner with investment management, research, trading, and operations stakeholders as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional data engineering / software development experience.
- Strong, current hands-on expertise in Oracle PL/SQL development, SQL scripting, and database performance tuning.
- Proven experience developing quality data engineering solutions in the financial services / asset management industry.
- Solid understanding of ETL tools (Informatica) and data warehousing concepts (Snowflake preferred).
- Strong data modeling skills (Transactional, Data Mart, Data Warehouse).
- Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Durham, NC.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Beginner-to-intermediate proficiency in Java, Python, REST APIs, and AWS.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps / CI/CD tools (Maven, Jenkins, Git, Docker).
- Prior experience supporting investment management, managed accounts, mutual funds, or ETF platforms.
