Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer (Kubernetes / Helm / AWS)
Location: Remote (U.S.; Austin, TX time zone preferred)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)

About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, and run cloud-hosted platforms for a digital health SaaS organization.

You will own Helm charts, containers, IaC, and CI/CD for multi-cloud SaaS—not a ticket-only ops seat. Python/Go/TypeScript APIs, Kubernetes/OpenShift, AWS CDK/Lambda/ECS, and Terraform are in scope.

What You’ll Do:
  • Develop and maintain cloud-native REST APIs in Python, Go, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Build and harden Docker images (security, cost, deployability).
  • Author and version Helm charts for Kubernetes / OpenShift (values, upgrades, rollback).
  • Build and improve CI/CD (deploy, test, monitor, roll back).
  • Monitor performance and scale; fix bottlenecks (caching, concurrency, HPA, resource limits).
  • Build serverless SaaS pieces with AWS CDK, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate.
  • Use readiness/liveness probes, resource requests/limits, and namespace isolation.
  • Manage in-cluster PostgreSQL, Kafka, Grafana, and Elasticsearch via Helm or Operators.
  • Partner with security and infrastructure on logging, monitoring, and audit.
  • Troubleshoot prod/staging; document architecture and deploy procedures.

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years cloud development or infrastructure engineering.
  • SaaS and multi-cloud delivery.
  • Docker plus Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
  • Helm charts you have written and maintained.
  • APIs (REST or GraphQL) in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • CI/CD: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Terraform for non-trivial environments.
  • AWS and/or Azure (Boto3 and AWS CDK preferred).
  • Monitoring/logging: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Elasticsearch/Loki.
  • Bachelor’s in CS/SWE or equivalent.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • GitOps.
  • OpenShift.
  • Healthcare / digital health SaaS.
  • HashiCorp stack beyond Terraform.
