About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking an experienced Information Security Platform Engineer to support and enhance information security tooling and operations for a leading healthcare analytics and payment integrity organization.
This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role focused on building, operationalizing, and providing Tier 2 support for key security technologies while partnering closely with Information Security and IT teams. The engagement is fully remote and expected to run approximately 6 months.
What You’ll Do:
- Build, configure, and provide Tier 2 support for security tools, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, Web Application Firewall (WAF), Next-Generation Antivirus / Endpoint Protection, Email security gateways, Vulnerability management platforms, Asset discovery tools, and Cloud security controls.
- Operationalize existing security tools through control validation and tuning, enablement of new features, and platform upgrades aligned to security objectives.
- Partner with Information Security and IT teams to improve Security Operations Center (SOC) efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support investigation of escalated security incidents in collaboration with the SOC, including identifying unauthorized activity, assisting with containment and remediation, and contributing technical findings to incident reports.
- Perform root-cause analysis related to security tool outages or performance issues and provide remediation recommendations.
- Assist with preparation and responses for external audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
- Produce clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer for internal teams.
Required Qualifications:
- 5–6+ years of hands-on experience in Information Security Engineering, Security Operations, or IT Infrastructure Engineering with strong security tooling focus.
- Demonstrated experience building, configuring, and providing Tier 2 support for multiple security platforms (SIEM, EDR/Endpoint Protection, Email Security, Vulnerability Management, WAF, or similar).
- Experience operationalizing security tools (control validation/tuning, feature enablement, platform upgrades).
- Experience supporting escalated security incident investigations in collaboration with a SOC.
- Strong root-cause analysis skills related to security tool performance or outages.
- Familiarity with at least one major framework (NIST, CIS, MITRE ATT&CK, HIPAA, or HITRUST).
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and produce clear technical documentation.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Prior experience maturing or operationalizing SOC tooling.
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+).
- Healthcare, payment integrity, or regulated industry background.
