Job Title: Senior SDET – Trading Automation (Java / TypeScript)
Location: Westlake, TX (On-site)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)
About the Opportunity
ZipStaff is seeking an experienced Senior SDET to architect and build a new, unified end-to-end automation platform from the ground up for a leading financial services organization.
This is a senior hands-on role focused on delivering a scalable automation engine that will support 13+ modernization teams. You will design and implement UI and API automation using Java and TypeScript, with deep involvement in trade and order management validation across institutional trading workflows.
U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only.
What You’ll Do:
- Architect and build a brand-new, unified Java and TypeScript automation platform from the ground up to support both UI (Playwright / Selenium) and API testing across 13+ teams.
- Establish modern CI/CD patterns within Jenkins and leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate framework construction and test authoring.
- Automate core order lifecycle workflows: Create → Modify → Cancel → Execute.
- Validate institutional OMS order validation rules, post-trade processing, downstream clearing/settlement integrations, and regulatory reporting platforms.
- Design and execute API-driven automated tests (REST / SOAP) to validate workflows routed through Director pattern architectures.
- Conduct state comparison and data validation across coexisting legacy systems (Mainframe / DB2 via SOAP service layers) and modern cloud/microservice platforms.
- Enhance test reporting dashboards to track test coverage, execution stability, and business capability regression metrics across functional trading areas.
- Drive high-quality, scalable automation standards that support enterprise modernization efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- 7–8+ years of hands-on QA Automation / SDET experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and TypeScript for test automation.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Selenium, Cucumber (BDD), and API testing (REST & SOAP).
- Experience building or significantly modernizing automation frameworks (not just writing tests on existing frameworks).
- Solid experience with Jenkins (CI/CD) and version control.
- Demonstrated experience automating complex business workflows in a trading, order management, or financial services domain.
- Experience with state comparison / data validation across systems.
- Ability to work on-site in Westlake, TX.
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder only.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with institutional OMS, post-trade processing, clearing/settlement, or regulatory reporting systems.
- Exposure to legacy Mainframe / DB2 environments via SOAP services.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools.
- Prior experience supporting multiple development teams with a shared automation platform.
