Job Title: Data Center Facilities Engineer
Location: O’Fallon, MO (On-site)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)
About the Opportunity
ZipStaff is seeking a Data Center Facilities Engineer to support critical data-center operations for a major healthcare organization in the St. Louis / O’Fallon area.
This role is hands-on MEP and white-space operations: HVAC/CRAC, power, fire systems, cabling, alarms, change tickets, and incident response. Desk-only IT or network-only engineers without data-center mechanical/electrical exposure will not be a fit.
What You’ll Do:
- Deploy and support data-center technologies end-to-end.
- Track assets and cabling using standard documentation.
- Monitor and respond to alarms for IT and mechanical/electrical plant (MEP) equipment.
- Complete change requests and assigned tasks.
- Respond to incident tickets.
- Support structured cabling (copper/fiber), cable testing, cooling, and electrical concepts on the floor.
Required Qualifications:
- 2–4 years data-center or critical-facilities experience (or equivalent).
- Hands-on exposure to HVAC/CRAC, chillers, air handlers, UPS, switchgear, standby generators, clean-agent fire protection, sprinkler/fire detection, and BAS.
- Structured cabling (copper/fiber) and cable testing.
- Working knowledge of data-center cooling and electrical concepts.
- Change management and troubleshooting.
- Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently on-site.
- Bachelor’s in a quantitative or business field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work on-site in O’Fallon, MO.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare or other regulated critical-facilities environments.
- Strong ticket and change-control hygiene.
