About the Opportunity
ZipStaff is seeking an Application Architect for application modernization and Azure PaaS hosting at a global technology services firm.
You will architect migrations off IIS/legacy hosting onto Azure App Service, Functions, AKS, and ACI, guide a team of 5+, and support 10–12 projects in parallel. Weekend cutovers and customer time zones are part of the job.
What You’ll Do:
- Architect and lead modernization of applications onto Azure PaaS.
- Host and configure web apps (including IIS) and migrate them to Azure App Service, Functions, AKS, and Azure Container Instances.
- Containerize front ends and web services; host on Kubernetes.
- Analyze architecture dependencies and integrations; assess performance pre- and post-migration.
- Design Azure landing-zone / target-state architecture against the customer infra landscape.
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Data Platform, DevOps, and Integration on cloud-adoption standards.
- Guide a team of 5+ engineers; produce architecture/UML diagrams and customer-facing solution decks.
- Troubleshoot Azure PaaS issues; support weekend migrations when required.
Required Qualifications:
- 13+ years development and application modernization.
- 5+ years as Architect.
- Hands-on web application development and Azure PaaS hosting.
- IIS hosting/configuration plus migration pathways to Azure PaaS.
- Azure App Service, Azure Functions, AKS, Azure Container Instances.
- Containerizing web apps and services; Kubernetes hosting.
- Architectural diagrams, microservices, software design architecture, UML.
- Led a team of 5+ and can guide engineers technically.
- Able to run 10–12 projects in parallel, flex time zones, and support weekend migrations.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- .NET, Java, Angular, React, or Python.
- Azure landing-zone design and stakeholder-facing solution architecture.
- Database connectivity / configuration in migrated apps.
- Strong customer-facing communication and solution presentations.
